Construction sector has grown by 14.2% in 1Q 2024

The construction sector, which constitutes over 12% of Sri Lanka's economy, has shown a significant recovery by growing 14.2% in the first quarter of 2024. This is a notable rebound from the same period in 2023, when the sector contracted by nearly 40%.

The previous year's downturn was attributed to reduced public buying power, halted government construction projects, and soaring costs of construction materials.
