Investor proposal - Sri Lanka required to source USD 16.6Bn to settle the ISBs for the period : 2024-2038

Sri Lanka has received a revised investor proposal, known as the "Group's April Proposal," to restructure the defaulted International Sovereign Bonds (ISBs). This comes after reservations were expressed by the Government and IMF about the previous investor proposal.

The proposal outlines the need to settle outstanding interests for ISBs from April 2022 to April 2024, totaling USD 1.678 billion, starting from 2024 to 2028, along with interest for the current period and a proposed consent fee of USD 225 million.

Additionally, the principal ISB amount of USD 12.55 billion is required to be paid with interest starting from 2029 to 2038, making the total settlement USD 16.6 billion over the period from 2024 to 2038.
