US District Court granted a six-month halt on Hamilton Reserve Bank’s (HRB) lawsuit favouring Sri Lanka

The US court decided that there should be a pause in Hamilton’s demand for immediate repayment so that Sri Lanka could reach debt restructuring with other private creditors. The court decided a six-month halt on the above case.

Hamilton alleges that, as a result of Sri Lanka’s default, it is owed $242,990,000 in principal and $7,137,831.25 in accrued interest. Hamilton represents that it has not participated, and does not wish to participate, in Sri Lanka’s restructuring negotiations.
