Sri Lanka yet to reach to pre-crisis working hours as economy struggle

Prior to COVID-19, on average 68% of the workers had engaged in employment more than 40 hours per week, which fell to 49% in the first COVID wave and fell further to 51% in the second wave. The country faced an economic crisis in 2022, which made it fall to 57% in the 2nd & 3rd quarters and picked up marginally in by 4th quarter.
