IMF expects to delay the principle payment for external creditors to 2027

In the pre-restructuring scenario, IMF has estimated USD 2.834 Bn (Central Government and Government Guaranteed) debt is on arrears by end of 2022. Which would increase for the next three years. Under the IMF program, it is expected that there will not be principal payment till 2027 for those debts.

The interest payments would start from this year onwards as per the data provided in the IMF country report. A large portion of current arrears are falling due on ISB holders, Paris Clube official Creditors, and China.
