Sri Lanka 4Q 2022 GDP down by 12.4%

Sri Lanka experienced its worst economic contraction in the last quarter of 2022 of 12.4% after it fell by 17.1% during COVID-19 2Q 2020. The agriculture sector recorded a marginal positive growth of 0.7% after it contracted for five consecutive quarters.

The industry sector plunged by 30.1%, one of the worst performances in history, while the service sector too fell by 3.9% in the 4th quarter of 2022.
