Sri Lanka changed the base year of inflation from 2013 to 2021 from Jan 2023. A slightly higher weight has been allocated to non-food items in the revised index. Price reduction in vegetables, rice, and eggs has pulled inflation down while electricity and transport cost increase has pushed inflation up. But overall inflation has fallen from 51.7% to 50.6% in Feb 2023.
