A sharp decline of hydroelectricity generation which seems to be replaced by coal

Seasonally the hydroelectricity generation used to decline from mid-December to April. Last year it was replaced by a costly source of Thermal fuel, this time it is been replaced by coal, a much low-cost source. Coal contribution has reached almost 50% in the 21st and 22nd.

One of the three coal power plants at Norochcholai was shut down on the 23rd that generates 300 MW to the grid. The media reported it is to manage the existing coal stocks and for routine maintenance. CEB assured, however, that the loss of power will be covered by other available sources.
