Sri Lanka's Tax revenue improved further in August

The government Tax revenue improved further along with non-tax revenue in the first eight months to LKR 1.3 trillion from LKR 944Bn in the last year. Revenue growth is around 35%, while expenditure grows by 16%, contracting the fiscal deficit by 0.6% in 2022 from 2021.

This revenue growth in 2022 is fairly in-line with the estimated revenue mentioned in budget 2023 of LKR 2.1Trillion
