Monthly Apparel exports fell below USD 415Mn first time after 15 months

Sri Lanka’s foreign currency reserves largely benefit from apparel export as they accounted for little less than half of the monthly merchandising exports. But it has fallen by 13.58% in October from the previous year. Exports to the USA & Europe fell by 24% and 8%.

Bangladesh’s garment industry, the world’s No. 2 exporter after China, is also facing a double whammy from slowing global demand and an energy crisis at home that’s threatening to thwart the nation’s pandemic recovery reported by Economic times.
