CBSL kept the interest rate unchanged at the current level of 14.50% & 15.50% window. The decision was backed by the CBSL's view on the faster contraction of the near-term economy and the slowing down the inflation much quicker than expected.

Further, a notable contraction in credit to the private sector and possible upside risks to unemployment in the near term are also predicted by CBSL.
