Sri Lanka prints fresh money on Friday as the total CBSL holdings surpassed LKR 2Trillion
CBSL's holdings of T-Bills were recorded as LKR 2.45Bn by Friday. In the last four weeks, CBSL has managed to sell or re-issue the T-bills at the primary auction which enables them not to print additional money that creates inflation in the longer term. But the trend has changed on Friday as they had to print LKR 48Bn fresh money for the government funding requirement. PM has indicated Sri Lanka may have to print another LKR 1Trillion in the near term.
