SEC under heavy criticism over shutting down the CSE from 18th to 22nd
Sri Lanka Securities and Exchange Commission has decided to declare holidays for Colombo Stock Exchange from 18th to 22nd April. This is the second time since 20th March 2020 (where the country was closed due to COVID19), the CSE has been closed for the considerable time period. Ceylon Chamber of Commerce believes this decision is not a good practice of an open economy as it prevents a set of investors from exiting the market at the time and price of their choice, another group of investors is prevented from acquiring shares at the time and price of their choice.
