During the mid of May country performed over 25,000 PCR tests per day and as per the data release from HPB and it has fallen to below 19,000. Average COVID19 cases per day peaked at the end of first week of June to over 3,000 and it has fallen to 2,500 by now. Positive case % has also fallen from 15% to 13.5%. DG Dr. Sugath Dharmarathne says the demand for PCR tests has fallen due to the low number of cases are found in the country.
