Sri Lanka ranked 68th place in Global for Democracy out of 167 countries. Global average score of democracy hit an all-time low in 2020 while the index value for Sri Lanka has started to decline since 2018. The sub index values of Electoral process and Functioning of government have fallen while Political participation and Civil Liberty have improved.
