Sri Lanka said to has a better health profile in Asia region under many indexes. But the country has fallen to almost the lowest ranking in South Asia ( one place above the Maldives) in overall rankings of the Health Security Index 2019. The country is slightly above the global average score on Early detection and reporting for epidemics of potential international concern and Overall risk environment and country vulnerability to biological threats. The GHS Index is intended to be a key resource in the face of increasing risks of high-consequence and globally catastrophic biological events and in light of major gaps in international financing for preparedness.
