The tourism income is one of the key foreign inflow streams to Sri Lanka which brought USD 3.5Bn to the country in 2019. Ester attack in last April severally deteriorated the inflow immediately after the attack but recovered in latter months. COVID-19 has pushed back the recovery as the country recorded only 71,370 tourists in March after travel restriction imposed on tourists from 18th March. The cumulative foreign inflow fell by 31% from March 2019. Month on month it fell by 95%.
