Sri Lanka placed 55th in Globe Energy Transition Index (ETI) with high system performance but weak on readiness for a fast and effective transition
The ETI benchmarks countries on their energy system performance and their readiness for a fast and effective transition. ETI indicators depend on factors such as natural resource endowments, geography and climate, population, the level of socio‑economic development and path dependencies of legacy energy systems. The global average ETI score for 2020 is 55.1 out of 100, where Sri Lanka is above the Global average. But the country is very poor on the aspect of transition readiness.
