The value of mobile-based e-money transactions have been growing over 100% quarterly since 2017. The total transaction value was only LKR 31.4Bn in 2017 and it increased to LKR 142.4Bn in 2018 and jumped to LKR 337.4Bn in 2019. The average institutional payment was only 12.7% in 2017 of the total payment and it increased to 16.8% in 2018 and further improved to 21.4% in 2019. It has toped up to 26.8% in 4Q 2019. While the composition of utility payment fell from 73% (2017) to 63% in 2019.
