Sri Lanka stock market turnover shrinks, records lowest turnover for this year
Sri Lanka ASPI fell by 1.42% and more liquid S&P SL 20 fell by 1.74% today hitting a turnover of just LKR 871Mn, which is the lowest for 2023 so far. Fear of domestic debt restructuring is weighing on the banking sector which creates a negative sentiment.
Net foreign investment hit LKR 4Bn a couple of weeks back, but now it is down to LKR 3.2Bn. ASPI is up by just 1.1% for this month, but the index is still up by 9.1% YTD.
